M.2 patch to usb 3.0/Sata macgyver style
« on: January 06, 2020, 02:35:21 am »
This is more of a 'can I do it?' sort of project... Although, I'm hoping to benefit from it if it works.

I have:
Kobo Arc 10HD
External M.2 SSD adapter to USB 3.0 (without the SSD)
Parts from a motorola DCX3510 and a billion other devices i can take parts from me.
Sata hard drives, including 1 fully external drive with USB 3.0

What I want to do:
Use my Kobo as a NAS (ftp) for my little home network

The Kobo has a USB2.0 port and a miniHDMI port.  I want to attach the external HD to the Kobo (and still power the kobo), but I want to bypass its USB 2 port. I have a few strategies and not enough knowledge. I have some electronics background.

I would love to hear ideas!
