Designing/ideas for test jigs
« on: November 27, 2014, 11:14:12 pm »
Are there any good resources available for designing/setting up test jigs?
I'm looking for things like blogs were someone has gone through the process and included stuff like what worked best/what they'd do different, quick and dirty vs something more refined.
Even photos of different jigs would probably be quite useful.

I assume you have already looked at Dave's video on design for manufacturability:

I have but I think I will need to rewatch that one, thanks Charlie.
I was after some examples of the test jigs themselves, what are best practices and what methods are usually used - no point reinventing the wheel if someone else has thought of better ideas :)

No resources as such. Depending on your board type the following may be useless.

I' ex used a bare pcb the same a s the DUT.
I fit it to a sheet of aluminium or similar with standoff a and a second set of standoffs with thread less extension for the DUT to slide onto.
Fit spring loaded pogo pins to the bare board and wire those points off to whatever test circuit or instruments are needed. Works well for me on the low speed and analog boards I work with.
To hold boards in place I place a small insulated weight on them if needed.
