Title: Minecraft/videogame mod for laying out schematics ?
Post by: lordvader88 on April 27, 2018, 03:41:24 pm
I don't play MC or do graphics, but mapping out a PSU I wish I had it on my computer like in a game (At least I have jpeg's of the PCB to mark up.), that would look really cool. And if it was combined with simulation software it could work. You could animate a lot of the data like changing V/I, electric, magnetic fields.

I have seen some videos of MC with electronics but not up to what I'm thinking.

I'm just choosing MC since u could lay it out like lego. If I knew skyrim modding, I'd use that engine so it would look really cool.

Although it will be really cool. Creating a mod like that will be a very bad idea. Ignoring the time and effort it will take to program this mod, you will need even more processing power just to simulate the circuit that's why minecraft only uses on/off logic the same applies to Skyrim.

To give you an idea, to run circuits simulators I usually have to run them 100 slower than real time. Just for my computer to keep up with a decent refresh rate. With complex circuits it just becomes worse, and this doesn't ever consider magnetic fields.

I'm not against your idea but you will be very limited in what you can do.
