Title: Mixing two high-frequency signals
Post by: delicado on February 24, 2017, 04:36:48 am
Hi

When two high-frequency (~25kHz) signals are mixed on an electret mic's diaphragm, will an audible noise be recorded? For this to happen, do the input signals need to be modulated?

Thanks

In theory, if two frequencies, say 25Khz and 30KHz are added in a completely linear system, then all you end up with is 25Khz and 30KHz.

If there is any non-linearity at all in the microphone diaphram (ie distortion), you will some 5Khz.
