You can export empty database from MyElecParts.

During export you are able to select the Part categories you would like to import later.
You can also select the Columns are relevant for you. For example you can exclude Manufacturer part number, Marking or Attachments columns if they are not in your original file.
The program is able to import date in this exported format. Fill your data into this format.
Click the column headers in excel to check the expected format and allowed values of the column.

Ah okay.

Just to be clear, my goal is to re-inventory all my parts again. Should I make one long Excel sheet for every component but list the component by type and entering data into each column that's applicable?

As an example, if I have resistors and diodes, should I list the type as 'resistor' on row 1 and 'diode' on row 2, and enter the information that's applicable to each component type leaving the other cells empty?

Currently my list (as I've mentioned) has one tab for resistors that includes wattage and maybe a general note such as mounting type (or gold for the gold colored higher wattage resistors). The diode tab doesn't have wattage but may have current.

In all cases, I keep a general memo as a way to remember what I have. Usually the memo may include the project I bought the part(s) for which triggers a memory to visual the part.

If you export an empty database from MyElecParts you will get multiple sheets in one xlsx document. One sheet per part category as each part category has different set of parameters. At export you can select part categories you really want to fill.

In your example you should put all the resistors on Resistor sheet and all diodes on one of the diodes sheets. There are actually 5 different diodes category: Rectifier, Schottky, Switch, TVS and Zener.

you can put your memo into the Note field.

It seems the PostgreeSQL provider does not support creating database from code either:

I currently reviewed again to support different type of database, and I found that PostgreeSQL is really not support creating of the database but do support migrations, so it is possible to add as a alternative database for linux users. Creating empty database would be an easy manual step after installation of Postgree. And the tables could be created with the migration step automatically.

MyElecParts v1.70 is now available.
https://myelecparts.hu/

Linux users will be pleased to know that the PostgreSQL database engine is now supported by the program. Alternatively, if you only want to use the program for searching, database-less operation is now officially supported. This can be selected in the config file. See also the installation guide page on the website.

A minimum quantity can be set for each item; if stock falls below this level, the program will alert you, allowing you to see what needs to be restocked...

Editing inventory quantities is now easier, and the quantity field can now be adjusted using the + and - buttons with either the mouse or the keyboard. You can also increase or decrease the quantity by ten using the Page Down and Page Up keys.

A frustrating bug related to scrolling through combo boxes has finally been fixed.

Full list:
• Database: Add support for PostgreSQL database
• Database: Add support for working without database (Search only)
• Parts: Add Min. stock level for part parameters
• Parts and Storage locations: Show low stock warning
• Parts and Storage locations: Improve stock level edit
• Parts and Storage locations: Extended filtering
• Meta search: Update Datasheet4U source
• Bugfix: Fix combobox scrolling issue
• Small buxfixes

MyElecParts v1.80 is now available.
https://myelecparts.hu/

More and more websites are introducing human presence verification upon opening, and from now on, alltransistors is no exception. In order to continue using the search function on this site, you’ll need to install another program. This is Microsoft WebView2. It comes pre-installed on Windows 11, so no action is required there; for earlier versions, you’ll need to install it following the installation guide if it isn’t already installed. The program will alert you if it’s missing. On Linux under wine, you'll need to do also a little tweaking.

The program now also includes the ability to show or hide columns and reorder them in the main tables. In addition to the default columns, there are a few others you can display.

Full list:
• New optional dependency for WebView2, see installation page
• Add column selection and reorder
• Parts and Storage locations: Direct update of stock level
• Meta and Marking code search: Support human verification for Alltransistor
• Meta search: Update Datasheet4U and QDatasheet sources
• Bugfix: Fix open startup page bug

Thank you for all the work you put into this. It’s a fantastic app, I’m trying it right now.
The meta search is so handy and saves so much time! I haven’t really seen this in other applications.

This tool looks very promising! Thanks for putting in all the work. I haven't had the chance to test it yet but will do soon :)
One thing that comes to mind:
Where I work we order our stuff using farnell, downloading the .csv from the shopping cart, yadayada. But we always have that .csv of the shopping cart that contains the parts and quantaties. It would be awesome if I, or a colleague, could just throw that .csv in there and see the numbers update.

Can multiple users use the same database? At our university, we have teaching labs, research labs, offices, ... all with their own stocks. Would be great to have a unified database as a lot of cross-contamination happens already.
