Need help with Sony Vaio VGC-RM1N Access Unit hack!
« on: November 17, 2013, 04:42:55 pm »
Hi my brothers old sony vaio PC broke so he chucked it out but throwing the acces unit seemed like a waste so i thought i would try to hack it.

In the main PC case there was a PCI-E card but it has a special plug socket so i looked up the datasheet for the PCI-E chip to see if i could make a adapter that would plug into a normal PC.

I Found the datasheet http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/136694/PERICOM/PI2EQX4401ZFE.html? But What Pins on the chip go to what pins on a normal PCI-E Slot?

Many Thanks
-Ethan

Probably a one to one correspondence with a regular PCI slot. Sony likes to do that using odd connectors, but best is to look up the specs of the PCI standard and look as to where the power pins on the card connect and where the pins on the PCI chip go on the card, then you can make an adaptor to mate them.
