Need info on Motorola SC71280K......
« on: May 25, 2020, 10:56:15 pm »
This is a +15V regulator in a TO3 can. Specifically interested in operating temperature range. I can't find a datasheet anywhere for them. Is it some Mil Spec device?
Thanks,jim

Motorola used the SC prefix on customer-specific parts. This was typically for mask ROM programmed micros but it may also apply to other parts designed, tested or selected to a specific customer requirement.

It may be difficult to get any published information on this part although you could always saw the top of the can and see if there is any marking on the die.

Thanks. I was curious, they work just fine. Do you know if they made anything TO-3 that was rated less than 125deg C?

No, not without doing a search through every item in the Motorola catalog(s).

However, I do know that there are some devices rated for more than 125deg junction temperature when packaged in a metal can. For example, the 78xx series regulator was available in 2 grades tested for operation at 125deg junction temperature or at 150deg.

Thanks again. This can is the equivalent of a 7815. I'll just assume it's a 125 deg device.
