Title: Newbie, Treadmill speed control?
Post by: a11mcr on September 03, 2014, 07:29:59 am
hi im looking for some help making a cheap motor control circuit
I have a treadmill with broken control board (so pulled it all out and binned it now just left with the motor and belt)  so wanting to make a manual speed control?
the motor is rated at 180 VDC 1200W 7A (but works with an 18V drill battery albeit slow) so looking for something I can make/buy to manually regulate the speed?
I have seen some on the net but only rated to 500W 4A so could I modify one of these to suit?
thanks in advance

You can use a large triac light dimmer with the output fed through a rectifier, but you may get some 120Hz hum, or vibration,
