Is there a pre tapped bushing you can buy so I do not have to tap plastic for use with screws? if so, what are they called?
Search your favorite providers for "plastic inserts".
Threaded bushes or threaded inserts normally gets you some results, cold press, barbed and heat settable varieties exists depending on your need,
For hobby purposes you can get descent results with "thread repair inserts" and "NUTSERTS" and a bit of creativity
Thank You! I just googled plastic inserts at first....did not occur to me to add "threaded"!
There is also self tapping plastic screws, if you don't need something as durable as an insert. McMaster has them under "plastite screws" they are self tapping, and have a rounded triangular cross section that is less likely to back out, they work well in my experience. Just make sure to stick with inserts and machine screws for battery doors
