Flexible Flat Cable/Ribbon Cable Stripping Tool
« on: March 07, 2018, 07:35:14 am »
Hi, I'm looking for a tool to strip and prepare flexible flat cable usually found in computers, printers, and other similar electronics. It's often called power button ribbon cable. These types of cable are very flat with conductors that vary from a few to over 50. The ends are stripped on one side and a stiff piece of plastic material is bonded to the opposite side to aid insertion into the connector.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for this tool? I've seen a few YouTube videos where an improvised technique using a razor blade and double sided tape is used to fabricate the ends, but I was wondering what professional hand tool does the job better.

Regards

Here's a video of a guy using a razor blade and double sided tape to fabricate a laptop power button ribbon cable. I'm posting this to show the type of cable I referring to.

Regards
