Op-Amp Buffer into 1073 Mic Pre?
« on: January 09, 2015, 03:52:22 am »
Hello all,

I'm looking into different solid state Mic pre designs. Now I know that transformer in and out is nice and gives that "je ne sais quoi" to the 1073 (and others) but is there any reason why one could not use an op-amp buffered input (and output) on BA283 boards (1073 in and output modules)? Definitely would be cheaper, not to mention lighter if building multiple chanels...Am I out to lunch with this?

Have you thought about using 5025a instead? I have seen people using even 60Z6 successfully here.

I'm quite new at this and I'm not sure what the 5025 is. Op Amp? Isn't the 60Z6 a Zener?
