Help? Need ideas for 555 timer.
« on: December 18, 2012, 08:16:15 pm »
Hello!  ;D
OK! So I wanted to do a video on the 555 timer and some "cool things" you can do with it.
Anyone have some ideas/schematics to share? It would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! ^__^

PS:
Been posting a lot of this forum, I'm kinda new to it, not finding many people "my age" (or thus other that I know... LOL) into these kind of things so hope I'm not posting too much, LOL  :o

OTHER NOTES:
* I already have a PWM, a "LED Flasher", and a "555 Sound Piano."
* Ideally I'd like circuits that use JUST the 555 timer as the only IC (bunch of transistors of course ok) or only "1" other IC chip. Unless its something really fun/interesting that HAS to have a couple/few other IC's then ok w/e post/share! ^_^
* I'd like to make this video for beginners some fun projects and nothing too too complex.
Check out my youtube! ^_^

Perhaps this can be of interest.

It's a variable frequency pest repeller, it uses two 555's one to generate the frequency and one to sweep it.

Here are some circuits that I have made many years ago, not my design they are from a book by RM Marston dating from the 1970's the Star Trek red alert is very good when I built it I added an amplifier and a voltage regulator and ran the 555's at 9 volts and the amp stage at 12 volts Driving a PA horn and fitted it to a car as an alarm.

G7PSK - Very fun! Thanks for sharing it! ^__^
I didn't see but... might be fun to add a 3rd 555 to that "star trek red alert" circuit and set it up with some flashing red LED's LOL (or... wait... I guess you can probably do that without a 3rd 555 and... use a transistor off of the speaker feed? hm... )

This post is kind of old.  Are you still interested in some new and novel circuits?
