OTM8009A TFT parallel only ?
(1/2) > >>
Jan Audio:
Hi, is there no way to use SPI for the graphics on this display driver : OTM8009A ?
It is a nice display, only i dont like to use 16 pins from my 28pin DIP package MCU.
thanks
SiliconWizard:
Well, it appears to have an SPI interface: see: http://www.orientdisplay.com/pdf/OTM8009A.pdf

Now I don't know about the resolution of the LCD panel it will drive, but expect pretty poor performance using SPI unless the panel has very low res.
Jan Audio:
It has 800x480 pixels in full color.
The SPI might be for the touch panel only.

Nope, I don't think so. See section 6.7. You can write commands and write to GRAM data through SPI. I don't think the OTM8009A controller itself handles touch panels.

Now you're probably dealing with an LCD module including this controller PLUS an additional controller for the touch panel.

And I don't know whether the OTM8009A is accessible through its SPI interface in your module. It may have been set to MPU parallel interface only in hardware.
To check that, you need to see whether they have given access to the IM0, IM1, IM2 and IM3 lines, or if they are at least configurable via some kind of jumpers on the board...
Jan Audio:
Ah i see now, different controllers.
Ok, will check for those pins.

The complete displays themselfs dont have a manual i guess.
Maybe i should buy one.
thanks
