Reverse polarity protection with MOSFET and what about ESD
« on: December 27, 2018, 06:10:06 pm »
I want to build my own flightcontroller and want to protect the power input from reverse polarity(two ESC's release their smoke). But there is there a problem with ESD when you mount the Mosfets "naked" and is a Zener diode enought for protect the Gate ?

Yes, usually a resistor and zener is added to the standard circuit to provide gate voltage limiting.  A TVS on the outside protects generally against ESD and surge.
