Panel Punch
(1/1)
L_Euler:
Any of you folks know where I can get a manual Punch set for IEC 320 C14 power cord sockets? Or, if you have one, can I rent it from you. Marking, drilling, nibbling, and filing is getting old.
dom0:
I mark from a template (with a scriber), drill and file. Reasonably quick with good files.
Edit: If your panels are aluminium (probably the case), loading the files with chalk keeps them from gumming up.

I use a nibbler for IEC sockets. Comes out lovely and clean. Takes about 2 minutes.
If I was to do more than about 2 I'd get someone else to cut it professionally.
MagicSmoker:
I *believe* the correct knockout punch for the rectangular hole from Greenlee is:

There are likely other (less expensive) options, so look for a rectangular punch around 22mm high by 28-30mm wide.

Thanks guys. Good tip on chalking up the file. I usually wet file aluminum with Tap Magic for aluminum.
