multimeter current fuses i2t?
« on: October 14, 2022, 07:22:24 am »
so I need to replace some fuses in a 34401A, and I see HP has a special part # for it.

When you look at fast blow fuses with the same rating, you can get the same thing with a bunch of different I2T ratings.

If there is no I2T rating given, what should you choose?

On one hand I think the fastest one, but on the other hand DMM often have a robust input protection network, so it might be impractical and unnecessary.

in my meters  i put 3 amps fuses only, they are rated at 600volts

But Keysight  says  3 amp for the front panel and 7 amp for the inside one if i recall  ... witch i find stupid  ???

I'm not using the sand filled ones,  but i should in case of an overload,  BUT for higher currents i work in voltages and shunts, instead of current,  i never blow the fuses

And the sad thing is, when the meter is calibrated, they normally put stickers on the case screws ... i asked them  to put the stickers on the top casing, rear position.
