| Part Identification. Odd value resistor? |
| (1/1) |
| Robert A:
Hi, I need help identifying this resistor. It’s in an SMPS and has let the magic smoke out. The bands look like they are black, white, silver, gold and green but that doesn’t calculate to anything sensible. Also I think it’s in a 1W case. Any help is appreciated. |

Where in the circuit is it located? My guess is 0.098 ohm 0.5% given that you can get resistors with that value. |
| ArthurDent:
The question is what caused this low value resistor to fail. A replacement component will probably fail the same way unless you find and correct the real problem. |

Pleas accept my apologies but I’ve somehow managed to post this question on two different sections, this one and on Repair. I have also tried to remove this post and am continuing the conversation on the Repair section, so if you, Amyk and ArthurDent, could follow the other post that would be great. Once again sorry and hope to see you over there. |
