PCB-is TG 170 -180 material worth it?
« on: November 19, 2023, 07:55:50 pm »
Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of finalizing a 6-layer PCB for manufacturing and considering assembly services as well.
While using PCBway's quote service, I observed that the price doubles when opting for TG material of 170-180 instead of TG 150-160.

Is it genuinely worthwhile to go for PCBs constructed from TG 170-180 material?

What do you think?

Without knowing about your application or circuit, assume no.  Standard FR4 with Tg around 140 C is absolutely fine for most purposes.

If you are going to expose your PCB to high temperatures, do multiple reflow steps, need high dimensional stability you might need to pay for the higher Tg.
