PCF7961 car key programming
« on: March 06, 2020, 04:24:21 pm »
Hello Mates,

I own a 07 peugeot 307, with one remote key and I wish to add a second one.

To match the key to the car, I have the peugeot dealer equipment and software, thats the easy part

The problems rely on the key itself, which is based on the philips/nxp PCF7961. The internal eeprom must be programmed with a dump to be read by the car as a virgin key and after matched to the car this eeprom is "locked"  them the key can't be reused in another car.

I was given a working key from a scraped car, but need to reflash the eeprom with the original dump

The remote board:

There are some specialty programmers that can read and decode the PCF7961, but I do not have one of those, ehis IC is I2C based.

Does anyone know any procedure to read and reprogram this IC with a simpler programmer? Bus pirate or arduino sketch?
