Measured 10 times or so, the highest I saw the meter read was 7.5A on startup. It however is a UNI-T UT210E, so the update rate is not very fast, and there doesn't appear to be a MAX type feature. So I don't think this is really indicating the true current surge. |

It takes only a very, very brief excursion outside of the SOA for a mosfet to fail. |

Yeah. So do you think the NTC idea will be OK? Speaking to the engineer of the company that makes the driver boards for these things, again, he suggested 2x NTC 10D-20 in parallel should do the trick. 10ohm 10A steady, 20mm diameter, in parallel making it 5ohm 20A capable I guess. Should restrict to about 220V/5R=44A, which the FET's I think can handle, as they are rated to 47A continuous @ 25C. Thoughts? |
