Hello!
I'm looking for (maybe not hard enough) an audio IC with 2 ADC's and 4 DACs. I mean 4 physical DACs, not 4 outputs with variable gains. I don't need any variable gains, mutes, etd. Just ideally a singlechip solution with 2 ADCs and 4 DACs.
Sampling rate I will run it at is 48kHz (maybe 96kHz if the DSP core will keep up) and I'd like 24bit resolution.
Voltage outputs preferable, I don't want to mess with I/V stages.
I do not require any specific digital audio interface, as long as it will be anything standard like I2S/PCM or so.
I have quite some trouble to find such IC (seems none animal like that exists). I've found only an "inversion" type with 4 ADCs and 2 DACs. The problem is, the manufacturers mostly list their ICs by number of IOs not number of physical ADC/DAC. That is a freaking pain in the ass to sort through, bcs many ICs listed as 2input 4 output has just only 2 DACs inside. But one have to download the damn datasheet and read through to find that out. (yes, I mean you Cirrus!!!)
Do such ICs even exist (2ADC 4DAC) or do I search for unobtanium?
I have a backup solution to use two ICs, one for stereo ADC and one for quad DAC. But the same problem, noone does Quad DACs, only 6 or 8 DACs in one package. Doh! |O
Thank you for help,
Yan

I think I2S/PCM might make things a little difficult, usually the kind of device you describe would be a like 2x ADC 6x DAC, USB or PCIe for either usb soundcards or codecs on a mobo.

Hi
Are you looking for a few million of these or only one for a quick project? Many of the people who do this are not very focused on small volume applications. That can make their products a major pain to use because you can't get full access to the technical data on them unless you are a "big use guy".

peter.mitchell What is so difficult on I2S/PCM/TDM/... ? I do NOT want a multichannel USB soundcard, neither do I want PCIex soundcard. I'm looking for a codec (chip) with ADC and DACs, I will manage the data streams myself.
uncle_bob: Only a few pieces for prototyping.
So it seems I'm stuck, even though we are in the middle of semiconductor boom, the component base still sucks.
So thank you all for participation, I will probably very unhappily use a common stereo ADC and a separate 6channel DAC (I have some currently in my stock) with two channels flapping in the breeze making useless overhead for the DSP, because it seems no freaking manufacturer does 4channel DACs. What a bummer. :'( |O

What he says is that you might want to search for chips with 2ADCs and 6 DACs instead of insisting on having 4 DACs.
Reason being that nobody has use for 4 DACs, while every sound card out there needs 6 so there will be chips for that. So you might have 2 you don't use, but at least you've got a chip.

have a few different offerings - have a look to see if any suit?

Wolfson had some, now Cirrus. WM8994 fits your spec, though in a 'mobile-friendly' CSP package ;). There are a couple of other 4:2 options from them, and obviously you can use one of the multi-channel parts that has more channels than you need e.g. WM8581.
AKM has some too, AK4682EQ for example.
