In case you've missed my edit, I'm on W10 64 bit
I'd be glad to help/test were possible, I do know a few things about networking, but not everything..  :)

Thank you! I need support from the community and you buyers to make this as robust as possible!
I'll try of course to limit any issues but good to hear you are on board :)

I will look into the IP issue and the terminal to get the fixed ip going, just need to finish my work day.

For those that want to work on the software, this is the platformio.ini file I use (WIP in my fork, looking to implement a RAW or VXI-11 interface, easier with pyvisa):
Code: [Select]
[env:ATmega4809]
platform = atmelmegaavr
board = ATmega4809
framework = arduino
lib_deps =
robtillaart/DEVNULL@^0.1.6
arduino-libraries/Ethernet@^2.0.2
;board_build.f_cpu = 16000000L
board_build.f_cpu = 20000000L
board_build.mcu = atmega4809

upload_protocol = arduino
monitor_speed = 115200
build_flags =
-DARDUINO_AVR_ATmega4809

If you can run a packet sniffer on the DHCP exchange, that would help a lot.
How to do it: use a sniffing tool (wireshark or npcap or ...)  either, on your router, or on a hub (not a switch!) connected to the device (will likely need external power then), or on a network with promiscuous mode (ex: wifi, via a bridge), to capture the exchanges (direct and broadcast) between the device and the DHCP server (router). Then send us the (preferably filtered) exchange in a pcap or pcapng file, here or via DM if you haven't filtered.

What is brand/model is the router that serves DHCP?

just to be sure you did use a POE switch to connect the adapter to ?
And used the port with the yellow bar on the bottom ?

Yes I did unit power on but have no comm thru usb and lan. On terminal when write ++ver it does not answer. I tested my arduino ar488 and it work ok so there is problem with board or I miss smth.

Sorry about that, when you connect the device to power with ethernet, how quickly does the indicator led turn on? That gives us an idea.
All boards went thru FAT with every interface tested so it is odd. But of course, thing can happen so should it be any fault, I will replace it.

Let's start with the basic to see if it starts the main lopp after 3-5 sec(not like 20-30 sec) with the led glowing, if it does it could be a similar network isse like The Soulman has(and thus something I need for sure to look into).

EDIT: Sorry, since you try to write to it you probably already have the IP, ++addr reply zero as well?

Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding: serial console only prints the mac address on 115200 baud (if you have the latest batch, the version on git doesn't do that). It does not react to serial input. All interaction for now must go through telnet to port 1234, and therefore you must have an IP address before doing that.

I try thru USB I don't have IP. When I plug Ethernet cable it lit power diode after 3-5s.

Ahh, then it makes sense, the serial interface only prints the MAC and the MAC is fixed based on the unique id of the board.
Since the led lights up, it gets IP from your router so that part works fine.
But you would probably want to set fixed IP.
I have been a bit busy, I will take a crack at it early in the morning so you can set fixed IP. The other option right now is that you can hard code it in the source code and compile&upload.

But I will fix a verys simple serial config interface for you guys.

No command. Just hook up the USB cable, open serial terminal to it on 115200 baud, and press and release the reset button. It will print the MAC address (if you have the latest batch, otherwise it will print nothing). Also, the device should have come with a sticker showing the MAC address.
However, the device works since the led comes on.

But if you have an older firmware and do want to see the MAC address on serial console, then either Kofen, or I can easily provide firmware that does print the MAC address via serial. You will however need to be able to flash it. That goes through for example a tool called avrdude, and it needs simple USB. There is no need for special cables.

Another method for getting the MAC address is using a tool like Wireshark, and searching for DHCP traffic. It requires a bit more technical knowledge about IP networks.

I checked on 2 routers and it does not work on booth of them. I can see mac on serial terminal.

EDIT: I have option in router to assign ip to mac address. I can ping assigned IP

Pinging 192.18.1.11 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.18.1.11: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.18.1.11: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.18.1.11: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=128
Reply from 192.18.1.11: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=128

Ping statistics for 192.18.1.11:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 3ms, Average = 2ms

but it does not answer thru telnet (putty).

Can you install wireshark ?
When you start it up it will ask what adapter to capture.
On the right side uncheck everything except the wired checkbox.

Then select your main adapter (probably the top one)
and type in the filter line
Code: [Select]
port 67 or port 68then hit the enter key (or double tap on the line you selected before)

Reset the adapter and you will get probably 4 line in your wireshark window.

If you click on the line with "DHCP ACK" and in the bottom screen click open the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (ACK) part then you see a line with     Your (client) IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

This will be the IP address of the adapter.
If not can you save the captured data and post it here (you probably need to zip it)

(edit: canceling all my previous questions)

If you can set an IP address and it pings, you are very close.

If you do use putty, please do so on telnet (not ssh or serial) and do so to port 1234. Once connected, you can type '++help' and enter. If there is no reply, try changing the end of line markers. Try setting to CR+LF.

Did you use port 1234 ?
And connection type other.
As in the image below ?

If so can you do the wireshark thing as in my previous post only filter line
Code: [Select]
port 1234 on the same pc as you are using putty.

A couple of simple questions, please answer question by question:
1) With a network cable connected to the router, and no USB cable, do the leds on the network connector light up?
2) if not, when you also connect USB, do the leds on the network connector light up?
3) once the leds on the network cable light up, how long before the RGB led lights up?
4) what is the make/model of your routers?
5) do you think you can flash new firmware to the device? You would need a USB cable and a tool like avrdude or the arduino IDE. Tell us which tool you can use.
6) do you think you can sniff the network exchanges between the device and the router? You would need a tool like wireshark and some knowledge on how to set up that type of sniffing. (also see remark by BennoG)

1) yes
3) about 5s
4) ZTE
5) Yes I can arduino ide
6) I'm nerd  but will do my best

Sorry, messages crossed. Wireshark is not really needed anymore. You're very close to having it running. '++help' enter should do it.

Same as Faraday I also use a ZTE router. I'm not concerned with how this router (does not) recognize the adapter, setting a fixed ip adres from serial would be good enough for me.
But if it helps others I could bring the adapter to work and plug it in to a more professional switch/router and see what that reports.

And mine also appears to work from putty (thanks BennoG).
For instance I can successfully set and read the adapters gpib adres by ++adr 3 (set it to adres 3) and ++adr (reads the adres number, in this case returns 3).

However It is unclear to me how to send commands to a specific device on the gpib bus, in this case a Keithley 192 on adres 8?
I know this question is not restricted to this adapter but any help is appreciated.  :)

This device talks the "prologix" protocol for now (am working on other protocols), that is unfortunately not yet compatible with mainstream tools like pyvisa.
However, PyMeasure should be able to talk to it.

If you want to test it with telnet for device address 8:

connect to it
++addr 8
++auto 1
*IDN?

You can even save that config to the device via ++savecfg

It will not be completely VISA RAW socket compatible, but close.

("++auto" is 0 by default, meaning you need to send "++read" after every query)
