Power up multiple motherboards from a single PSU?
« on: April 05, 2020, 10:38:32 am »
I have a few vintage MBs that I would like stack up and "encapsulate" into a custom build enclosure.
The main issue is a space and would prefer to avoid 1:1 (MB:PSU) ration. The most MB setups consume in 150-300W range.
I'm no planning to power these up altogether, max 2 at the same time. The whole thing should allows connect 8 MBs (yes, like eight as number  ::))

My idea is marrying a prefabricated industrial 48V ~600W PSU (aka TDK Lambda etc) and layout a custom board that fit an enclosure nicely.

Key points:
 - cabling are okay to make in house
 - access to a proper components unrestricted
 - my pet project: no budget constraints, but reasonable

Any suggestions?
