Hi all, I saw an article in Diyode on servos and they had a competition where you can win one by sending in your ideas. I had an idea to use one for opening and closing a door on a chicken coop at a set time. I know I'd need and Arduino, servo and a timing device but i also want to power it from battery, charged by solar. The door isn't very heavy so I wouldn't need a strong servo. Any help is appreciated to point me in the right direction |

I'd think this would be doable with a few off-the-shelf parts from a decent hardware store. Electric door openers do exist. Programmable timers as well. Solar rechargeable batteries as well. If the door opener and timer you find are mains-powered, you need an additional inverter after the battery. Also off-the-shelf. So, not sure this is worth designing completely from scratch... |
