Title: RCD and main swith Isolator in Equipment
Post by: wilmer on May 28, 2021, 09:51:10 am
Hello,

I am designing a equipment and the drawing were checked by an external company. I am use to put the RCD for the whole panel and in the main isolator include the neutral line. That is what I had seen in other companies.

The last time I talk to them and their justification of not isolating neutral is that the field electritian should check that neutral is not switched by Line. (OMFG) they have not seen the instalation around the world that I had. They also corrected my drawing to only protect two outlets with RCD. That means the main power supply is exposed to leak to earth if the outside installation is not done properly.

Now, I will have my own electritian and I am tented to tell he/she to do it my way?

am I correct?

This is the first time that I see an RCD who doesnt protect everything( take in note that I sually design is automation systems and my only AC design is from AC to power supplies.

Thanks for the comments in advance....

(Keep the comments PG)

I personally had an eletrocution doing a maintenace in a 120v AC system ( not in australia) because somebody switch L and N in the panel.

I always basically follow :
