Recommendations for small boost PSU - 9V to 33V @ 40mA
Psi:
Can anyone recommendation me a popular jellybean boost regulator IC for the following?
The specs will be.
- Boost converter
- Input 8V-12V DC
- Output 33V @ 40mA max
- Smallish total footprint 20x20mm, all SMT parts. Needs high switching freq so smaller SMT inductors can be used.
- Reduced part count preferred. Built-in switching transistor and maybe diode inside the IC. I don't mind paying a bit extra for this.
- Price isn't super critical. Lets say under $4 each for the IC and it's required external parts at a build qty of 50.
Ideas / IC Recommendations anyone ?
Thanks a lot

I bought XL6009 based modules from Amazon. They go up to 35v and run at 400Khz. They may do what you need but are a little bigger than 2cm x 2cm.

BOM of 9 parts, cost of everything <$2. Definitely fits in footprint, the TI online tool reports 50mm^2 total area.

I don't know a specific part off the top of my head, but luckily TI makes a wide variety of good (and cheap) regulators...Linear/Analog Devices makes good (but expensive, from what I remember!) parts.
TI's got a nice parametric search on their website, if you go to "Products", "Power Management", then pick "Boost converters (integrated switch)" from the left-hand list. You can then put in your Vin range, Vout, and Iout, and it shows you 17 options:
http://www.ti.com/power-management/non-isolated-dc-dc-switching-regulators/step-up-boost/boost-converters-integrated-switch/products.html#p238min=0.3;8&p238max=12;75&p634min=1.23;33&p634max=33;84&p834typ=0.18975;11.9&p212max=75.75757575757575;100
Then if you wanted to you could narrow down by max. frequency, maybe synchronous boost (if you really didn't want an external diode - I don't know of any that put a Schottky on-chip), etc.
The LMR64010 does turn up on this list and seems like a good option, but still a worthwhile exercise just so you have an easier time picking a part in the future!
