Given that LCDs on older equipment are failing, if you want an exact fit and function, a custom LCD is probably the only option for replacement. I have never done anything like this and will only need parts in small quantities at a reasonable (i.e., cheap) price. These are nothing fancy, just need monochrome with a few special characters. Again, I have no experience with this and just need a place to start. Could someone recommend a custom LCD manufacturer that will produce small quantities at a reasonable price?

These days all LCD displays are coming from Taiwan. So you need to find a manufacturer there. These manufacturers usually are only interested when MOQ > 5000. Have for example a look at Bolymin

This is for hobby projects. In Dave's video he mentioned getting very small quantities for prototypes. I am looking for Q<50.
