Reliable certified Bluetooth module?
« on: January 15, 2017, 09:02:14 pm »
So it appears that the Microchip RN-42 is no longer suitable for new designs. Even with the latest firmware it does not reliably work between computers.

Does anyone know of a reliable one to act as a wireless serial bridge?

Price isn't an issue.

Since it's an MCU, does it require to be programmed, or is it ready-to-go on power up or require a string of configuration commands over the UART during boot-up?

Looks like it's just a matter of connecting it and powering it up. I actually have a few of those chips lying around somewhere, but never used them since I ended up using some other module for Bluetooth.
