Using a 6" length of 28 AWG IDC10 cable for audio hookup?

Is it feasible to use a 6" length of 28 AWG IDC10 cable to hookup a front panel to an audio PCB? The front panel contains: input and output stereo jacks, a volume control potentiometer, and a 12 VDC 1A power  input jack.

In theory, yes. To make sure there is no hum pickup I would alternate signal and ground lines and wrap copper tape around the flat cable that is grounded at one end.

 I've seen this in audio gear I've taken apart. Though it may have been heavier wire in the ribbon cable than #28.

Perhaps.
6" isn't long and many audio cables contain more or less the same inside.
Use some sensible layout to prevent capacitive coupling from output (or power) to input, like: inputs, input ground, output ground, outputs, 2x power ground, 2x power.
Look up tables of AWG resistance per inch/foot/whatever and see if voltage drop and heating of the cable at 1A will be tolerable.

My ribbon cable solution was discarded last night and replaced with hand twisted 26 AWG solid wire.  Although the circuit theoretically draws a couple hundred milliamps,  it's too close for comfort to 28 AWG wire's 228 milliamp current carrying capacity at 700 circular mils per amp. The IDC header is too large for this project too.
