ltspice simulation problems
« on: May 23, 2019, 09:45:30 pm »
Couldn't find a good place to ask this, if there's a more proper place, let me know.

I was trying to simulate some one-shots, tried to add the 74HC4538 to my favorite sim (Protel 99SE) but couldn't get that to work.

So, I added the 74HC and everything else model library from texane for LTspice.  I threw together a test circuit, but I can't get ANY comparators to work properly.  I tried a bunch of LT's own parts, they gave a low DC output.  The only one that responds at all is the LM319, but it is VERY weak, only gives nanoamps of output, and it appears to be phase reversed.

Here's the schematic file from LTspice:

I hope it is obvious what I'm doing wrong, i'm a real neophyte with LTspice.

Thanks,

Jon

You put the libraries where??  What is "ZZZ\\LOGIC\\74HC\\"?

That's where the huge file from
https://yadi.sk/d/6nSSUmZiT9oCoQ

had all the 74HC stuff I wanted, so I just kept it the same.  It does work.

It looks like my comparator problems were just that I was making the input pulses too short.  Once I slowed down the pulses, it worked, at least using the LM393 comparator.  GOOD THING I pressed on and simulated this circuit, as it does NOT work as designed.  But, now that I have the simulator actually working, I can try to fix the logic.

Thanks,

Jon

ZZZ is the Bordodynov library - he created and updates from time to time a large bundle with a lot of components and examples.

And, it is GREAT!  It adds all sorts of jellybean parts to the proprietary LT parts.

It's easy to use these files:

- use this folder for symbols
C:\Users\Joe\Documents\LTspiceXVII\lib\sym\ZZZ
- use this folder for libs and subckts
C:\Users\Joe\Documents\LTspiceXVII\lib\sub

This is Bordodynov's home page :

I just installed LTSpice 24 and copied the files from Bordodynov's zip file into C:\Users\Steve\Documents\LTspice\lib, but they don't show up when adding a component. Do I have to change any setting in LTSpice's search path?

I just have the defaults of...
User libraries directory: C:\Users\Steve\Documents\LTspice
Symbol Search Path = <Blank>
Library Search Path = <Blank>
