One of the LED spotlights in my kitchen recently started flickering so I thought I'd save myself some money and repair ir. Sure enough, one of the surface mounted LEDs had a black scorch mark through it (there are ten LEDs) so not having any spares of that type I replaced it with a wire jumper.
It works fine now, trouble is I had to use my Dremel to carefully remove the opaque dome from the body of the bulb. On studying the white glue used to stick it on place it looks like it may have been standard silicone sealant. Is this likely the case or would some kind of special adhesive been used?
If it was silicone sealant I have some so could use that to re-attach the dome, but if not what would be best to use? As the bulb gets pretty warm I'm assuming that hot melt glue isn't a good option. How about epoxy resin?
Also out of interest, would there have been a better way to remove the dome instead of using my Dremel? I ask this for possible future reference.
