| Replacement binding post for GW Instek GPS-3303 |

Hello, I have recently purchased a GPS-3303 power supply that had two broken red binding posts. So far I have been unable to source an exact replacement for it, but perhaps my search skills aren't as powerful. They have no identifying marks on them. I have attached a photo of one of the surviving posts. H.H. SMITH 1517-102 is one of the few that I've found that might have a long enough terminal, but I need to measure tomorrow to be certain. I would prefer to replace with binding posts that match the others if possible as well. I have sent an email to GW Instek regarding this, but either their contact form does not verify when submitted successfully or it failed to send and did not display an error. Thank you for any help or advice! |

For those that find this through google, this HH Smith/abbatron binding post is a few mm too short to work as a direct replacement. It'll take a little creativity to get the D on the binding posts to fit into something, but should be possible. I will use wire to bridge the distance between the pcb and the binding posts, and will need to cut away a bit from the factory plastic to make it work. It should look pretty nice once it's finished. I'll post pictures once it's finished if anyone is interested. I noticed also one of the traces is missing solder mask and doesn't look as good as it should. Any suggestions on what to do with this, if anything? I've attached the picture of the trace. |

Well, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish, repair, or restoration. If repair... If you can not find the exact post, after reasonable searching, then maybe remove both the good and the bad post and replace them, with a matching pair, of another type. As far as the bare trace, you can buy DIY solder mask materials. Look on YouTube, for tutorials. Or, if you are not concerned with appearance, you could use Liquid Electrical Tape, for a bit of insulation. I am not saying this is a good method, but it might be the cheapest, easiest, reasonable solution. It all depends on what results you are looking for. It is available, in green. https://www.amazon.com/Star-brite-Liquid-Electrical-Tape/dp/B003A3VEGS/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1541588695&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=liquid%2Belectrical%2Btape%2Bclear&th=1 |

I have some of these. If you don't need the rear backing plate, then the posts are really long. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Black-Double-Row-Banana-Socket-Amplifier-Speaker-Terminal-Binding-Post-Plug/202188401096?hash=item2f135e29c8:g:tg0AAOSwKjNafOsE:rk:2:pf:0 Ebay has lots of other posts that have a look very similar to what you have. Look at numbers 13 and 19, down. Then, do some more looking;-) https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311.R6.TR6.TRC2.A0.H0.XbanaNA+SOCKET.TRS0&_nkw=banana+jack+socket&_sacat=0 Nice find, on the unit. I have been looking for one, like this, myself. |

I had a similar problem where my entire front panel was damaged during shipping. I ordered the Plastics including Binding posts from Instek. |
