Help finding cross-ref for unique MOSFET
« on: January 31, 2017, 11:43:39 pm »
Need to replace a dead NXP MOSFET, BUK101-50GL:

http://www.nxp.com/documents/data_sheet/BUK101-50GL.pdf

No longer available. The dead one controlled a half-dozen 25A SSR's at a rate <10 hz.

It has some unique features: overcurrent protection due to overtemp or short-circuit; "logic and protection" (not sure what this is). Can't find a replacement with similar features.

Replacement needs to be through-hole, preferably TO-220. It's not heat-sinked so not critical that it be that form-factor, just that it match up with the PCB lead holes.

NXP has no cross-reference resource on their site and when I called was told to google the original pn. No help there.

Any assistance matching a replacement would be a great help.

Thanks.

Thanks for that. Infineon provides a cross-reference resource which recommends AUIPS1031 which does look similar enough to the BUK101.

Cheers!

VNP35N07 looks close.
Try searching under "intelligent mosfet" or "protected mosfet".

Huh, it drives SSRs?  I wouldn't think the protection feature would be at all necessary.  (And, perhaps, insufficient for it to survive anyway? What's up with that?)

Which is a rather chilling thing, actually.  How the hell did that thing fail in the first place?  That's a far more interesting question...

I agree. Perhaps the original poster is mistaken and it was used to drive contactors rather than solid state relays or the MOSFET in question is part of an SSR?
