Low power wifi chipset?
« on: April 22, 2021, 04:57:29 am »
I'm looking for recommendations for a WiFi chipset to be used in a project I'm working on.  I'll be using the chipset to periodically monitor nearby WiFi APs and routers, looking only for SSID and RSSI information.  Device is battery battery powered so low power consumption is important.

Must have:
- low power sleep
- rx mode ideally as low power as possible
- tx won't be used at all so RF power is not important

Thanks!

The esp32 seems to have everything you need. The SoC board (ESP-WROOM-32 i think) is cheep anought that you can throw it in almost anything. Or if you only want the IC you can go for  the EPS8266.

i hope these  suit you.
~Best of luck

I believe the ESP32 and ESP8266 are 2.4GHz only, in case that matters.
