Title: Reverse power detection for Grid connected Inverter

I'm familiar with reverse power relays as used by utilities (ANSI 32) for detecting power direction, I'm not so sure what the renewable energy crowd is using to detect power direction (home-to-grid or grid-to-home)?

Are there any OTS affordable reverse power detectors available for this market?

Would a current clamp be sufficient?  It will give you direction of current flow, and while I don't know of commercial products that just detect and report it for for this kind of application, it seems simple enough that they probably do exist.

A current clamp is only part of the solution. Because AC power is ... AC you’ll see positive and negative currents in any case.

To measure power flow direction you need voltage and current measurements (like a power meter).

Not sure of any domestic / commercial stuff to do this. Industrial protection relays or transducers as probably available for purcha$$$e.

What you need is a power meter.  It measures current and voltage and the phase between them.  That determines the direction of current flow.
