RoboVac Boundary Beam Detector (RBBD) ---What Wavelength?
« on: October 14, 2019, 12:38:21 pm »
I want to build (clone) a tinier Robovac (boundary---Do Not Cross!)  beam generator that can sit under a large sofa, but I first must be able to detect and decode the signal from the much too tall "Pepper Mill" shaped one that came with the RoboVac(it works well, just too big).

I have tried aiming the beam at a 3-wire remote module salvaged from a VCR, which has no problem showing on my scope the output of my TV remote, but it completely ignores the RoboVac boundary beam unit's signal.

Have also tried salvaging a two-wire infrared diode detector used to detect an End of Tape condition ( salvaged from a VCR) but again, no detection, but it clearly shows the pulse stream output of any of several VCR/TV remotes.

Does anyone know what kind of detector and emitter is being used?

The RoboVac I have is a WASCO model XR510A.

Help! The poor thing always gets hopelessly  stalled when it is tries to climb over the two supporting rods under the middle of my sofa!!!
