ROHM AC/DC converter and mTouch
« on: October 10, 2012, 07:41:18 pm »
  Hi guys,

I was looking for an AC/DC converter to use on a project. Since the space is a major concern, I opted for pre-built modules and found that the BP5045A5 had the perfect voltage and current output for my aplication except for the fact that, instead of 5V, it outputs -5V. It would be okay for most aplications, but since I want it to power up a mTouch capacitive touch aplication, I'm a bit concern about how it would affect the response of the sensor pads, since the pads have to couple with ground to "generate" a capacitance, and the Earth ground is more than 100v below the Logic ground that it generates, depending on the voltage aplied to the input of the module. It's important to know that the module is non-isolated.

My question is: are my concerns true?

  Thanks ;)
