I can use the info , but not knowledgeable enough to give helpful criticism .
So waiting for peer-review before download ;)
Thanks
John

Another chance to do this , on posts that are of interest , I will click on notify .
Then my email will flood with irrelevant threads , and in some cases no notify of the original thread of interest ?
I have posted this at least half a dozen times with no replies , or at least no notify's , hoping to one day solve this ?

Great job, pighixxx!  :-+

It could be very handy, but I wonder how to apply the correct scale if I print the sheet on the paper. When I tried to print it as PDF, I've got the wrong scale, e.g. 2.3 mm instead of 2,54. It is even worse on the screen, as it will be represented at some unknown scale.

Wouldn't it be more convenient if there were printed dimensions (in inches and mm) above every package - at least for pitch and overall width?
:( + :( = :) :)

– Watts are "W" not "w"
– Use "times" sign (×) instead of ex "x".
– In SMD grids are important. So, as far as I can remember, 0.5mm pitch IC "matches" one of the sizes of passives. I don't remember which one.
– You could add via current rating.
– CAPS Value Converter is unnecessary IMO. Only old people don't know what a nF is :)
– I would add common pitch values (0.35mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm) to Units Converter.
– You can add how many traces and which width can go between SMD passive of various sizes.
– Add samples of BGA fanout methods
– Maybe a cross-section of a good SMD solder job (SMD passive and IC leg).
– Samples of SMD pad sizes vs. component density

And as a bonus for various expos/conference visitors:

– How many SMD components of a certain size fit into a jar

I think it would be a good addition to e.g. surround a large block in the middle with a square of specified dimensions (around 100 x 100 mm) to to verify if the printout has maintained the intended sizes.
Also, I guess the the pdf has been generated for an European A4 paper.
Not sure if the sizes are maintained when printed on US Letter format (A4: 297 × 210 mm, Letter : 279.4 x 215.9 mm)

Too small on my screen. Can you post a PDF?

Looks very useful. Especailly the package outlines. Would useful to have also text at different sizes (e.g. for silkscreen).

On the first post you can find the pdf.
For your convenience: http://www.pighixxx.com/smd_v1_0.pdf

In the coming days, I release an improved version.

@Fred27
Usually, I release my drawings when I can not find anything that suits my case.
Mainly as a conversion tool (electrolytic capacitors with different codes) and then I expanded the tool...

In the coming days, I release an improved version.

Looking forward to that, this looks very handy if the few missing parts and descriptors are fixed :)
The TQFP/QFP/QFN are a bit redundant to me,
i would either add alle of the usual packages or leave them out.

How exactly are you supposed to use it?

I think the idea is print it out.  Assuming the dimensions are true, you can just eyeball your component against what's on the paper to determine what it is.  Also, knowing your component type, you can eyeball the part on the page to tell how much space it is going to roughly take up on a board.  Also, if you are a noob it's a quick way to learn a bunch of common package types.

Next step will have to be flashcards!  All really gung-ho types love flashcards.
