Waterproof switch cover?
« on: June 04, 2018, 08:42:10 am »
Hi all,

My google-fu is letting me down, so I thought I'd try here to see if anyone can help.

I am designing a PCB with 3 connectors and hopefully a momentary push button (or whatever I can get), that is to be used in a wet environment. The connectors are all IP67 (AU-04PMMP-LC7001), but I am banging my head trying to select a button/switch/toggle etc. The connectors are to be soldered onto the board, and then the board fitted to the plastic box with nothing but the connector mounting.

I have the following constraints:
- At least IP54
- switch to be PCB mounted
- distance from PCB to plastic housing is 4.4mm.
- maximum cost of $2 in 100x.
- ideally purchasable from RS/Farnell
- switch/button/toggle is momentary

I have seen boots for toggle switches, but the bodies are always too big.

Ideally I would just like to drill a hole, push fit a flexible rubber cap and push through this onto a standard tactile button - but like I said, my google-fu is letting me down.

Any ideas?

PCB mount limits the options

only thing that springs to mind, Is a med/long post tactile switch with a ip rated top on the out side or a film cover
