Title: Searching info about this synchro converter
Post by: F4CPY on April 25, 2014, 02:17:37 pm
Hi guys  ;)
I'm on a antenna rotator project using synchros for antenna position recopy.
I found a part in my local junkyard which can perhaps be used.
I join a (bad) photo sorry for the blur.
It's a DDC (data device corp.) conversion module SC-471
Pins: S1, S2, S3 for the synchro.
GND, 15v, -15v, 5v ok for the supply
But what about V, M, S, -C
I suspect S as sinus, -c as -cosinus, but V and M ???? (Velocity, Motion?).
Tried to search at DDC website for old part but see nothing about SC module
My first guess will go on a sort of SCOTT T transformer

Thanks for your help
Didier

If the modules are just Scott transformers, then no power supplies are needed, so must be more than that.

What about a synchro to serial data converter? So need clock, start, ? and ? pins?

Analog Devices make (still do?) resolver to digital converters, but not synchro to digital, always seemed to convert resolver to synchro first.

The module might be a special to Sperry item, but must be for gyro compasses?

Might have to buy them and try.
