Single 0.1" receptacle / connector
« on: March 02, 2020, 05:15:26 pm »
I'm trying to find a high quality (3M, Mill-Max, etc..) connector, but don't know how to describe it correctly when searching and could use some help both with the correct descriptor to use as well as your personal experience as to the 'best' connector.

What I'm looking for is 0.1" pin connectors, both female and male, in order in order to make some jumpers that are more along the lines of the quality on HP logic analyzers instead of the import quality that is often shipped with breadboards, or dev boards from import sources.

In an effort to be more clear, below are a couple examples (examples of female connectors, as I have noticed a much greater difference in quality in those)

GOOD example:
942326-0
942330-1

BAD example:
942334-2

The "bad example" ones are generally called Dupont connectors.

The dslogic cables are essentially off the shelf parts, but yes much nicer cable than the cheapies.
Is it worth your time to crimp yourself? Crimper ~$20, some nice wire (teflon, silicone, etc.), terminals, and heatshrink should be <$50.

digikey has some stuff but, its just PVC so doesnt look great
