Title: Six-Channel Opto Couplers
Post by: German_EE on August 27, 2014, 09:25:27 am
I've seen various sorts of opto-coupler over the years and they have varied from a single channel in a four pin package to four channels in a sixteen pin DIP. So, a question for you all:

Does anyone make a device with six opto-coupled channels in a single package? Surface mount or through-hole, I do not care. Isolation needs to be 400 V AC or better.

So far I have tried Mouser, Digikey, RS, Farnell and all of the German component distributors without success.

If it is not availlable its probably bad idea to use it in your design.
Csm170 would be 8-channel opto with all the availlability and pricing problems...

What's the application? Does the isolation barier have to be optical?
Depending on the application you might (or might not) be able use something like the ADUM7604 or the SI8660. Search Digikey for digital isolators.

Does it have to be in a single package? If not, it is trivial to make one from multiple singles/dual/quad.

It will be less expensive as well will not take up significantly more space.

Ah! Thank you to H.O for the tip about digital isolators. This is a technology which I have not encountered before but it is however just what I need.
