SmartPhone battery emulator and dis/chargeometer counts down!
« on: August 11, 2019, 01:52:21 am »
A smartphone battery recently went slightly balloony (gas) it have been runing for several years with its charger on day time hours so that have being excessive wear on the battery, yet bat charges up to 4.3V and deliver power but current capacity is ofcource somewhat reduced.

Anyhow i made a battery emulator, the phone works but i ponder about the dis/chargeometers operation. With the bat emulator connected the dis/chargometer counts down as if there was an actual battery in the phone, If an additional charger then applied to the normal charge USB port the diss/chargeometer still counts down but very slow, it also displays the same discharge number even if phone shut down and all power removed.
So whats going on here? Can the NTC dummy resistor R2 (i picked i mid range value of 8,4-9,5kohm)
and Bat type resistor R3 (was 10k in the original bat) have a role in this?

How is the software actually measuring the charge/discharge?

How weird!? around 75% on the dis/chargeometer then the dis/chargeometer went 100% and signaled:  full charge, remove charger.

The diode trick was once well known in Perk mining. If you also supply power to the USB port, most likely everything will work just fine.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

Perk Mining?! newer heard of that!

Everything works fine with just battery emulator , except for taking pictures with flash light on the momentarily peak current drawn is to big for the original Huawei SMPS so phone instantly shuts off, not god for Linux system, but i assume with bigger current supply that would be cured.
