SMBUS I2C can I use for other non SMBUS devices

Hi,
I am using an I2C port as SMBUS to communicate with BB-2590 series battery packs. These battery packs are compatible to SMBUS commands.
Can I share this I2C bus with other devices that do not support SMBUS commands??
The I2C addresses are different .

Hi. Yes, SMBUS is a protocol that sits on top of I2C, you should be able to talk I2C over a SMBUS as well.
Your SMBUS controller though may not let you, or it may be an I2C controller that is being fed SMBUS messages.
