Some Older Chip Images
(1/1)

Here's a few more chip images in very low resolution, imaged awhile back.
Best,
More at Nikon Image Space, be sure to download files for full resolution. Note the last image is a wafer sliver from a old abused wafer, this was test of the S&S system mentioned and is ~28,000 pixels by 22,000 pixels.

Very pretty.
Here are some Burr Brown hybrids from the late 70s.

Those old BB hybrids are excellent performers and make nice images as well.
I remember we were using a BB hybrid Precision 18 bit DAC way back in 70s, this had few chips, one of which was a CMOS chip, and was a very expensive hybrid. The CMOS chip was prone to latchup if the substrate became only slightly forward biased. We found this out because a few burned up (actually melted a hole in the package top) because during power up a small "glitch" could forward bias the CMOS substrate, which would go into SCR latchup and burn up. A couple protection SB Diodes solved the problem after we had a few fried expensive hybrids :-\
