Mr. Putian's XJW01 Meter Kit - PCB Revision V3.0 Protel File with NO smd wanted?

Hi!

I bought Mr. Putian's XJW01 LCR Meter Kit a couple of years ago - the mains-powered 2017 version in a small white bench-top case & I can't get it to work because the STC had a programming fault (LCD dead with no data reaching it, xtal clock running) and the PCB I have doesn't match the circuits I could find! The board came ready-built, by the way.

The PCB I have is labelled "V3.0", but the only package of files I could find on the Crystal Radio Forums was a V5.5 PCB, which is totally different to mine, with predominantly SMD components (attached) - mine has none!

The PCB I'm looking for is Version V3.0 with NO surface-mount LL4148 or diodes on it's copper side, possibly dated 2/13.

Are there any Chinese-Understanding or Speaking Members on this Forum who could possibly locate Mr. Putian's Protel/Sprint Layout design Files on the Crystal Radio Forum (or elsewhere) for the V3.0 xjw01 PCB which does NOT have any SMD components fitted to it's bottom (solder) side please?

If I had the design files I'd be able to trace the fault far more easily!

I've got an STC MCU Programming kit by the way, so if anyone can point me in the direction of the right firmware I can re-program it!

Around page 43      there was a 4x16 or 4x20  lcd used ...... no 4 lines lcd up to page 60 ..

If you see 1602 folder in the rar it the 2 lines version .....

Member Coromonadalix, thank you for finding me that!

I spent all nite last nite reading the Crystal Radio Chinese Forum thread on this meter, but because of their habit of writing every file name in Chinese it was impossible to track them and find out which dump was for which software version!

It seems that software development stopped at Version 5.5 and found a hex dump folder annotated "V5.5" in the dropbox you provided for me and I'll program a new STC Micro from that if the original supplied was duffy, as I suspect to be the case!

As I received my non-functional unit a long time ago it's not worth trying to argue it out with inscrutable Chinese sellers of unknown parentage, so I'll depopulate the faulty PCB, document the parts in an Excel parts-template I designed, test them all and obtain any replacements needed, then scan both sides of it and have a go at a later date at re-creating the Protel file it was made from!

(Apparently the Chinese contributors were not sharing the layout files after the first two or three Sprint Layout versions of this!)

I'll start a new topic on this project in due course!

It's too bad the author is open about the project and then it gets guarded.
The STC was good to 7.8kHz and I see 40-pin DIP version and QFP44. I see later versions using STM32 and DDS good to 10kHz.

If you're revisiting it, just use a Bluepill instead, don't bother with the STC part.

I've been put off Bluepills by the sheer number of half–started, non–documented and "work–in-progress projects that abound on the net, and for all the documentation failings of Chinese T & M, it is at least (theoretically!) a finished design that's sold in large quantities, which all my training and experience is based on – repairing something that's supposed to work but doesn't!

Is what you are hunting for? pic is of LCR METER XJW01, PCB REV: 1.1, LCR V3.0, DATE: 2014/05/18, an all through-hole version.

There have been many XJW01 circuit, PCB and firmware changes that are nearly impossible to track, all kept close to their countrymen. If only there was rhyme or reason to the revision numbers.
Building an older through-hole rev would be risky because it misses updates. I haven't found firmware and matching pcb/Gerbers for the versions.

That V5.5PCB file has PCB111111.PCB (twice) which is a mix of SMT and through-hole, all the buttons and LEDs are in a line, no keypad PCB, silkscreen "XJW01, Putian  Program REV: 5.5, LCR Meter Rev:5.5, DATE: 2016/11/27, QQ:898838627" It's in Protel PCB format Version=3.00

I have the schematic for the SMT version sold today, AUTO LCR METER XJW01, PCB REV: 1.1, CIRCUIT REV: 3.1, DATE: 2017/03/28. The circuit is similar to the previous rev's and still has a few mods, but still limited to 7.8kHz

STC12C5A60S2 has some strong claims "executes instructions in 1~6 clock cycles (about 6~7 times the rate of a standard 8051 device)."
"Operating frequency range: 0- 35MHz, is equivalent to standard 8051:0~420MHz". 1KB RAM, up to 62KB FLASH. But it tops out at 7.8kHz in the LCR meter.

I figure the STM32/DDS version has more code space and speed.

The common model for sale on eBay/Ali is: Circuit Rev:3.1, PCB Rev:1.1, 2017/03/29 using STC 12C5A60S2 QFP. The DIP-40 version is old.

I have this schematic, I faintly recall an error in it like the output clamp diodes go to the rails, or a capacitor is wrong. The second sch is the power supply.
