Hi Everyone,
Before I went to USQ, I did my Associate Diploma at North Sydney TAFE, where some legendary teachers (Brian Webster, John Beckett, Dennis Fox, David Bowskill et. Al.) had designed and built their own 6502 based systems for teaching us about microcomputer architecture, design and programming.
When I started there in 1992, they were still using a 6502 based single board computer, named "XYM" (an homage to the KIM series which were horrendously expensive in Oz in the 70s and 80s). Along with it, they had a DOS program that was a neat combination of Text Editor, VT220 Terminal Emulator, 6502 Assembler and Debugger called "XED".
I am glad I kept my "WYM" 65C02 student board from the second class, as well as the study guides - they contain the full schematics and user guide for XYM and XED, and the full source code for the "WYMSTART" ROM monitor on the Student board (WYM).
What they DIDN'T include was the XYM ROM monitor source code (it included several things not available in the WYM Student code). And I cannot locate the XED.exe development software for DOS.
If anyone here (I'm certain there are a few) who also studied EE at North Sydney TAFE (or were on staff there) and may happen to have copies of those items, or a working XYM with the EPROM, please do get in touch as I am working to reproduce the design as a matter of posterity and interest to the retro-computing community Bil Herd and I have been cultivating. I'd really, really appreciate any help, knowledge, data!
Thanks,
Ben J.
