Stand for soldering equipment
« on: January 29, 2017, 09:33:08 pm »
I have been planning to organise my soldering equipment a bit better. Due to limited desk space I needed something to stack the various soldering stations on top of eachother. Now Ersa sells these stands:

but I found it a bit too expensive for a piece of metal in a U shape and it is also very narrow. Ideally I'd like to put an Ersa RDS80 and an Atten 858D hot air station next to eachother. Some metalworking seemed unavoidable  :(. However I got a great idea. A while ago I collected a number of old leftover PCBs to throw away. Since FR4 is very sturdy material it would be suitable to build a soldering station stand from. After going through the pile again I decided on using some 3.2mm PCBs which already had the right size and looked somewhat stylish as well. I only had to make two pieces of square brass bar with threaded holes in order to put this together:
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
