Genuine vs. Generic Hirose connectors
« on: August 05, 2016, 04:15:30 pm »
Hi EEVBloggers.

I have a question about Hirose connectors, specifically DF57H-2S-1.2C.

See the attached image below. We received some custom batteries from a supplier in HK - when we went to plug the battery into our board, we noticed the fit was a little more snug that what we were used to. Upon closer inspection (and as you can see in the image) it turns out that the connectors are not the exact ones we specified. When we asked our supplier they told use they used a 'generic' substitute.

Does anyone have any experience or background on this topic? The thing is that the connectors actually fit fine, they are just a little more 'snug' and we're not sure if we should be worried about any long term effects.

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan.

you may want to take the electrical bits out and measure the insertion force of the connector itself, not the plastic housing.
