LTSPICE VCVS limits.....?
« on: September 29, 2015, 12:05:39 am »
I'm having a hell of a time trying to put voltage limits on a voltage controlled voltage source.  According to the following link there are parameters for Min and Max for the E VCVS but I can't get LTSPICE to work with them.

http://www.ece.uci.edu/docs/hspice/hspice_2001_2-206.html

I just get an "unknown paramater" fault.
I would post an asc file, but it's not even a circuit yet, just an E VCVS.  It works as expected, just not with limits.

Any ideas?

I'm just going to update this real time as I find stuff.  Here is the LTSPICE wiki page for VCVS.  Looks like LTSpice doesn't support min and max for VCVS.  Interesting they recommend using a VCCS and shunting it with a resistor to make a voltage.  Going to try that now.

Looks like the same deal with no limits on VCCS.  I think I have a workaround now that current limits and diode clamps the output of the first VCVS, and feeds that voltage into a second VCVS as a buffer.  That just seems silly.

This is probably more along the lines of what you want; http://ltwiki.org/index.php5?title=B_sources_(complete_reference)

Damn.  That is one seriously intimidating spice source.  I love how it's super complex and they don't give any examples.  What do they think I am, an engineer???
